First, thanks for letting me post on your site. I was assigned to 1st Platoon of Charlie 1/3 from 1967-1968. Our unit was stationed below the DMZ at an outpost called C-4 from Dec-1967 to 1968 and I remember you would give our unit a ride across the Cau Viet River. We conducted a lot of Infantry type of operations together. The First Amphibian Tractor Battalion was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation for service from 5 Nov 67 to 27 Jan 68 as you know and we just happened to be attached to the 1st AMTRAC during that time and also were awarded the MUC. Thanks again for letting me visit and your site is oustanding. Semper Fi Percy(C 1/3 & H 2/7)

I was assigned to 1st amtracs from 11/65 to 8/66 somewhere south of Danang. It all looked the same to me. I was next door to an ontos and tank battalion. I notice the battalion was moved to another location after I left the Nam. Many memories, some good and some not so good. Lost too many friends. Currently, I am having some slides changed to prints that I took in 1965 and 1966. Semper Fi.

Welcome home 1st Amphibian Tractor Battalion
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
I was in Cuaviet 1967 and 1968 with the
Navy and I was sure glad that you Marines were there
I use to go up river and stay on any boats that ran a ground.
My favorite bunker was the tower on the
base of the ramp.
Well you guys all take my brothers and
may God bless.
Your Brother Forever

I was in Bravo Company in February 1968 for just a few days. When they found out I was 17 years old, they sent me back down river to Dong Ha, on to Phu Bai and 3rd Mar Div hdqts to receive orders to Okinawa. Upon my 18th birthday, I was sent back to RVN but this time to 3rd LVT at Marble Mountain. Bravo 3rd and 4th platoons there. Cua Viet certainly was interesting!

Easter of '67 to about Easter '68 with Maintenance Platoon. Did the "big move" from DaNang to CuaViet.
I don't remember too many names but would love to hear from any of you that would like to contact me.
Would especially like to know if anyone remembers or knows what happened to Lt. Whiteside or Sgt Wallace. Both were great mentors and role models that had great impact on me.
