Was stationed at Cau Viet In January thru June of 1968 . My self & Dr. Deholm were in charge of the dental care for the base . Our clinic was near the Em club run by Sgt. Gilcrest & the radio bunker . We also went on many patrols with the amgrunts north & south of the base . I was there when 250 of ammunition vaporized the loading ramp & for all the incoming rockets & arty that rained down during tet . I remember treating wounded marines & sailors & evacuating them either to 3rd med I or the hospital ship . It was the highlight of my time in the Navy to have served FMF with the Marines . I am currently the Sgt. Of Arms in the Marine Corps League in Delaware. I keep a journal of Cau Viet including days we were hit & in some cases experiences when out in the Bush . I also mhave numerous photos .

Mainly anyone who remembers when a fellow Marine that got shot after the company had a beech party when he wondered onto a secured site whereas he was shot by a the guard on his post in 2/9 area. I would most appreciative to talk to some who was there. It is very important to me. Semper Fi

I am organizing a memorial gathering at the Vietnam Wall in Washington on January 20, 2018 to honor our fellow Marines that we lost on that day 50 years ago. There will also be a lunch, dinner, and other planned activities on that day. If you would like to attend please let me know as soon as possible so we can have a count for the shuttle and for the dinners. The Crossroads Inn in Quantico has a block of rooms set aside for us. You can see the full letter and updates on my facebook page (Dennis Williams) and on the "USMC 1st and 3rd Amtracs in Vietnam" page. You can also e-mail me at dennislwilliams98@gmail.com for more information.

A company, 1st Tracs, 3rd MARDIV. CUA Viet, MY LOC, VIETNAM, JUNE 68 - Aug 69, memory includes the 10 seconds to get in a bunker when the NVA guns went off, USS NJ shooting overhead at the big NVA guns, phantoms coming in, b52's, doing battalion courier duty between cua Viet, dong ha, Quang Tri running the cua Viet river every night with a 12 foot skiff ans a 50hp engine,
And a hippy-looking navy guy captaining it, would like to know if this rings a bell, and if he remembers running through that NVA platoon crossing dong ha river with their weapons in air way after dark? Lucked out on that one we did..SemperFi.
