Just a note to let folks know that an old amtracer has gone to Guard Heaven's Scenes...Master Gunnery Sergeant Larry Strain passed away in early May from cancer. I know he was with 3rd tracs at Marble Mountain in 69/70 because that is where I met him and I am pretty sure he was with 1st Tracs at Cua Viet. Email me if you would like more information. I was with Blt 3/1 on operation Napolian/Saline on the north bank of the Qua Viet. I was hit at night on March 1, 68 and was med-evaced on an AmTrac. I would like to find and thank the Trac crew that risked their lives to come out the night of March 1, 1968 and who saved my life. It was in the vicinity of Mai Xai Thi (West).

My Uncle, Cpl. Ken MacIver served with A Co. 1st Amtrac Bn 3rd MarDiv III MAF. He went to Vietnam around Christmas time 1966. Spent all of 1967 there and came home the beginning to the middle of January 1968. He received 2 Purple Hearts. I also know he has the Navy/ Marine Corps Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon. To date, he's alive and well. Once a year, during the summer, he rides his Harley from CA to VA to visit us.
