Just stumbled on this site while doing some research regarding the crash of a Flying Tiger Transport on Christmas Eve 1966 at DaNang. I was over my head as a 1st Lt. S-4 and Civil Affairs Officer The ville hit was our Bn project). Escaped that job to the Cua-Viet a few months later and was a platoon CO and liason to Division. Was later( May '67)sent South to Tuan-An Island off Hue as CO of a cobbled together Unit doing Division support and patrolling the South area of the Street Without Joy. I'm amazed at the detailed recollections of some. Do remember close calls but very few names. I was the only officer in the Unit East of Hue except for one Lt. I returned to Bn. Left Country in Nov. '67 and never looked back. Semper Fi

Always had a fascination with the tracs, but have never had the opportunity to serve with them. I have a pretty thorough collection of LVTP5, LVTP7, AAV7, and the new EFV models in all scales and materials (metal, plastic, and resin). Just bought several down at Lejeune over the weekend. If anyone wants information on what is available and where to find them, please don't hesitate to email me. I'm heading to Okinawa this summer and back to the green side.

Semper Fi bros! Tracker from Apr 82-Apr 86. Started off at Schwab in 82, went to Camp Fuji as permanent personnel at Sub Unit returned CONUS in March 84 to CLNC at Courthouse Bay. B Co Capt Nans was C.O. I was always stuck with Col Riner on battalion ops....he was one psycho guy, but someone who knew how to train his Marines to operate. I'll never forget the battalion runs through the tank trails! Went on a Med Cruise in 1985 with 2nd platoon- Lt Hornung....he was much like the Major from Heartbreak Ridge...a complete dumbass. Anyhow, we didn't do much but Gator circles off the coast of Lebanon and got extended due to the TWA plane taken hostage. YATYAS!!!!

Do you know David Higinbotham? I am trying to find information about my father and his service in Vietnam. He passed away before I knew him. The only information I have is that he completed the Crewmans Course - LVJ School on 2-mar-1964 given at 2D Amphibian Tractor Battalion, Camp Lejeune, NC, his SS# and his service #.
If you any information about him or can tell me how I can find more information about him please take a moment and let me know. Thanks in advance. Robert

I was with 1st bn amtrac h&s from Nov 67-jan 19th 1968 then I took a chopper up to join 3/3/3 at alpha 3 (con tien- gio linh, rockpile ,letherneck square. I transferred out of amtrac to dmz becasue of the 225 rockets that hit us in dec 67. I wanted to ber able to fight back. To say the least I got my wishes. I see that Jan 20th 1968 12kia as amtrac recieved the tet wake up call. Maybe some one could tell me what group i was with. I never even got around the tracs much less inside one, I went out on four man teams day and night all over the place. Just cant recall much more. Glad you fellows made it home. bob pons
