I was in Chu-Lai in 1965 with Br5avo Co. Ist Amtrac Bn. We landed on 18 May 1965. Bravo Co. 4th platoon I participated in Operation Eagles Nest, which preceded Operation Star Lite. I find nothing in the history section of the this page giving credit to those of us who where there in April and May of 1965. We were RLT1 and RLT 2. We were delivered there by the USS Vancouver LPD 2 in May of 1965. I was later asssigned to the 1st Air Defense Bn. at DaNang until my rotation date in August of 1965.

Just a quick note about the dedication ceremony for the Amgrunt Memorial. I have posted the link and the information of the Together We Served website.
I am planning to attend the dedication and hope to see many of my brothers there. Until then--Semper Fi

I served with Bravo 1st, 2nd AAV @ Courthoue Bay 1989-1993. I became jusr Bravo Co after Operation Desert Sheild/Storm. I finished up in 2nd platoon with Capt.Lugo and Gunny Ward.
Some of the best times of my life and some of the best growing experiences came from these four years. I look back at them fondly and sometimes wish I came back as an officer after I got out and finished college. We all know though that the NCO's run the Corps!!!
I'll talk to anyone wants to talk about the times they had even if I did not know you.
I just got married and threw all my medals on my tux, they were mini's but still took up some space and I am 35 now.
God Bless and Semper Fi to all of ours that are in battle right know and God be with the fallen.....

Had a reason to contact the VA today. He asked if I lost any fellow Marines when I was at Cua Viet and we had. I just wanted to see if we had a website and what it consisted of. Very nice.

I am trying to contact a Marine with the last name of Horan who was from Chicago. I believe his first name was Mike. We were in Nam from Oct 1966 to Nov 1967.
We were with FLSG_Bravo at Chu Lai and later Camp Books (Red Beach). On September 1, 1967 I helped carry him to a corpsman with shrapnel in his leg. I need to get him to verify we were attacked that night to satisfy a claim with the VA about loss of hearing in my left ear from a rocket blast.

What A Great Site.I served With B Co. 4th Platoon 1st Amtracs from Aug.67 to May 68.My main tractor was Bravo 49.Iwas crewchief on 1A45 on Dec.22,1967 when we hit a land mine & fortunatly had only minor wounds along with about five or six other guys. I remember some of the names & have already seen a few on this site. We did the constant guaard duty ,ambush patrols, resupply at C4,& and als Medevac dead & wounded. The daily incoming was unnerving at times but we all seemed to be able to laugh it off.It is so wonderful being young ,we felt pretty indestructable. I'll never forget our Colonel looking thru binoculars with incoming rounds blasting all around, all the while I was hiding as close to the groung as possible.I have many great & not so great memories, but I am very proud to have served .SEMPER FI

On behalf of Combat Assault Battalion (1st Amtrac Bn in WWII, Korea, Vietnam) greetings. We recently visited Blue Beach Incheon/ROK where 1st Tracs landed 2/5, last night I flew over Yellow Beach/Okinawa, and this morning I stood where the battalion landed 61 years ago today (OPERATION ICEBERG on L-Day 1 April 1945). Freedom isn't free--and I thought of those who paid the ultimate price. Your generation proved its mettle and left a legacy of valor, honor, and fidelity. The Marines and Sailors of the battalion today are magnifient and are keeping your legacy alive. Furthermore, I've heard of a new legacy of our Corps, "No better friend--and no worse enemy." Today at moring colors I'll be thinking of those who stormed ashore in those Alligators on Okinawa in the last battle of WWII and of those who didn't make it. Semper Fidelis Marines of 1st Tracs/CAB.
