Howdy guys; Am looking for a fine Marine you may have served with. His name is Lou Baste & he was an Amtracker as well as a DI & Recruiter. Served as a SSgt in Vietnam .. Years 65-66-67-68??? Knew Lou from recruiting duty in Detroit & Vietnam. I was in ChuLai (65-66) & DaNang (67-68). Ran across him at his post sometime during my tours, but don't remember where. Anyone having run across this model Marine, please e-mail me. Thanks.. Good Luck & may God bless those real heros who gave their all for their country 7 those who served. EdSchultz GySgt. THE BATTALION HISTORY PROJECT
The Marine Corps cannot record and tell our story without our input of information!
Many of you have signed-in here and tell tidbits of information and some of you have more to share - as well as photos.
I encourage all of you from all periods of service to record your unit histories. Especially so for the 1st Amtrac Battalion veterans!
You must take action now before the information and photos are lost, or "CRS" syndrome causes further memory loss - resulting in TOTAL memory loss - and because of the sad fact that many veterans are passing away.
Please realize that by networking with others who sign this Guestbook you will find answers to your questions, and aid you in remebering and telling your part of the overall story of the history of your unit and/or the 1st Amtrac Battalion in particular.
Thank you,
SF

I was in the 3rd Marines 1st Amtrak Division Company A. I served from 1966-1968. I was severely wounded on Sept. 6 1967 during an ambush. Our platoon had found an abandoned rocket in the sand and Lt. Jenkins told us to cover it up. I served with Silverman, Touart, Barron, Soliz, Pattison, Gaska, Shepler just to name a few. Please email me if you were also in my platoon. Everyone called me "Chief"
