Hello,
My name is Lauren Schwartz and I am a high school student from Austin, Texas. My English class is reading The Things They Carried, and is now beginning a project memorializing soldiers whose names are on the Vietnam Memorial Wall. We are commemorating lost soldiers and I received Richard Edwin Wilson from the 1st AmTrac Battalion.
I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share any memories or experiences that I can include in my memorial to make my tribute more personal. Information about the 1st AmTrac Battalion in general would be very appreciated.
Thank you very much for your time,
Lauren Schwartz

Cpl Joseph Richardson, B44 was at DaNang, 55, all our trips trying to find parts that didn't exist, the Deckhouse landings, finally CauViet, then back to DaNang to finally get parts, back up to CauViet only to have to park them and became grunts, now understand the history that followed us,we WERE the very first AmGrunts,a term I NEVER heard,I have posted some pics on my facebook page and the amgrunt facebook page, damn we had a great holiday on Oky 67, and anti guerilla warefare school and demolition school and no parts just paint getting tears in my eyes
I don't remember sh*t soon as I got out drugs and booze took care of the brain for more than two years. I have only this year started to get help from the VA center here in Ventura Calif with one on one and group sessions its helping
Found this site and the history that came after us just this Veterans day (2013)been on the computer for nearly two days now just finished all 42 pages of the posts ... sempre fi
