Great website! A message to anyone who manages the site: I am interested in reading the PDFs in the Library under "Amtracs in Marine History," but I get an error message "404 file or dirctory not found." I especially want to read about the Battle of Peleliu where my dad's first cousin died during the landings on D-Day, 9/15/44; PFC Robert Herrmann in an LVT-2 (Water Buffalo), with B Company, Sixth Amphibian Tractor Bn, 1st Marine Division.

Hello Gene,I think I am one of the 836 entrys, but can't find it. Anyway,I reported to Alpha Co,Maint in Apr 66. worked a few operations, took over the R1,(Normas Nomad) went to hill 55 and hit a mine. Was also there in Aug 66 when Charlie came through the wire. In Dec we moved up to Cau-Viet(hell of a trip that was)and A Co. became the first AMGRUNTS. Rotated to CONUS in Aug 67. The last reunion I made was at Quantico, when we were inducted into Gen Al Gray's library. Wish I had known about the last one in FLA, I would have tried to attend.
That's it from Taxachusetts trackrats, hope all will have a Merry Christmas & a prosporous New year.

My father was among the original Alligator Marines in Dunedin, FL. A friend is writing a book about their time in Dunedin and would like to know if anyone has any information on a mascot named "Screwball". In photographs, he looks like a beagle.

I was with 1st Armored Amphibian Co. at Cau Viet from around Jan 69 untill
sent down south for assignment in Okinawa. I stayed in country and was assigned to 3rd 8" Howitzer Battery outside of Danang. Bob Fisher was a cook assigned in Cau Viet with 1st Armored and then also assigned to 3rd 8" Howitzer. As i recall he was from somewhere around Philly.
In Cau Viet i was on Gun One. The crew chief's name was Bull and there was a guy in the platoon whose last name was Stump. The was also a Cpl. Harry Hinkle in the platoon.
If anyone knows any of these guys, especially Bob Fisher please shoot me an email.
I have a few photos if anyone is interested.
Semper Fi and God Bless.
