I was with 1st Tracs 3rd Marines Alpha Co. from January 67, to the day I got shot on Sept. 6 1967 during an ambush. I have some home movies of those days, Camp Kistler, Da Nang, and my memory is failing me on who some of them are. I would really like some help trying to figure it out. If you served during that time and were at Camp Kistler please email me and I will send you some of these pics I have. Maybe you are in them.. lol. Hello to all my Brothers, you are ALWAYS on my mind and in my heart.

I arrived in RVN Aug. 67 through Aug. 68. I was assigned to (How 6's) 1st Armored Amphibian Tractor Battalion at Cua Viet River. Those of us who arrived during this period were trained at Camp Pendleton and then assigned to 5th Marine Div. and then received orders for RVN. I would like to hear from any one who might remember me from NAM or from state-side especially John Wilkinson (Red Head) from New Jersey, Dunn from Alabama, Lamb et al.

I was in the US Navy and served aboard the USS Tortuga LSD 26. My ship was in Operation Fortress Sentry. I was assigned to a LCM 8 Landing Craft as a gunner on a 50 cal. We made the initial amphibious landing then were assigned to go back and forth between Cua Viet and Dong Ha. There is a picture posted by Doug Cozy on your site which I believe is the USS Tortuga.

My blue banner on the rear antenna of our tractor said "Doc Joes Traveling Medicine Show". Doc "DAX" and I are still pals. There was Cpl Crow, SSgt Wargo, Lt. Papprone, "Red" Guatney from South Cacalakey and more ther room here. Great men. Great Marines. I have some Photos. Wanna share yours?

I served in Viet Nam from Feburary 1967 to Feburary 1968. When I first got there I was assigned to an artillery unit. Then I was assigned to a 81 mortars unit. I knew I could'nt gain any rank out of my M.O.S. so after a lot of requesting mass, I finally got assigned back to my 1833 M.O.S. I was sent to the mouth of the Cua Viet River.
I stand to be corrected, but I believe that was the 1ST Battalion 3rd Marines.
I've been trying to search the Internet for information about the amtracker's from 1967 to 1968. I don't recognize most of the information that I come accross like pics, names, stories, etc.
Maybe it's because I tryed to forget as much as possible anything that pertained to that time of my life.
If any one remembers me please send me an email. I was a Lance Corporal and turned Corporal. I do remember playing grunt in those days and going on a lot of patrols.
Glad that I found this site. Looks like there are a lot of people here.
