As a boot I worked AM TRACS from 1982 to 1987. Del Mar, Out House Bay and the Rock. I picked up a new MOS in 1988. I loved and hated those Pigs, but had some awsome times being trained by the best, our Vietnam Vets
I had some great CO's and some bad CO's. My very best was CC Riner, we had real respect for that man. My worst CO was Capt DB Patton, nothing good to say about old Double Barrel. My first Crew Chief Snake Safonia, was a good man, he fed me non-filter Camels whle I was busting rust under the plenum chamber. To many memmories...SEMPER FI, YAT YAS

Well I finally got my military records.
When I first signed this book I didn't know what company I was with, now I do.
I spent the first 3 1/2 months as an 0811 in Vietnam. January 22,1967 to April 13th, 1967. They sent you where they wanted to put you no matter what your MOS was. Then April 14th, 1967 to Febuary 8th, 1968 in Company B 1st Amtrac Bn 3rd MarDiv.
Now I know my place in history in Vietnam. It took 2 months to get the records. I mean all of my military records. I told them I was writing a book, which I may still do.
I remember more now after getting my records. I had forgotten so much after all of these years

I was a member of the 3rd Amtrac Bn., Camp Del Mar, CA. 1954-55. We had LVT3C's.
The unit was broken up in 1955 with the introduction of the LVTP5's. Our XO, Major Pratt was killed that year along with other Marines during a training exercise. Gone but not forgotten -Semper Fi!
