I was with 1st Armored Amphibian Co. at Cau Viet from around Jan 69 untill
sent down south for assignment in Okinawa. I stayed in country and was assigned to 3rd 8" Howitzer Battery outside of Danang. Bob Fisher was a cook assigned in Cau Viet with 1st Armored and then also assigned to 3rd 8" Howitzer. As i recall he was from somewhere around Philly.
In Cau Viet i was on Gun One. The crew chief's name was Bull and there was a guy in the platoon whose last name was Stump. The was also a Cpl. Harry Hinkle in the platoon.
If anyone knows any of these guys, especially Bob Fisher please shoot me an email.
I have a few photos if anyone is interested.
Semper Fi and God Bless.

Gidday from New Zealand
Looking for some help, me & a mate have just imported an LVT4 from Australia that was used in the series the pacific but it's in need of some serious TLC & being a couple of knuckleheads we'll need all the advice we can get, to get an idea go to google then news & type in LVT4 it should take you to an article in the Waikato Times over here on the LVT's arrival
In addition to the LVT we have 2x Sabre CVRT vehicles (sought of like the Brit Scorpion tank), 1x Chieftain main battle tank, a 5.5inch Howitzer, a OT64, a 1943 Ford GPW (fits in LVT if we can get the ramp going) & we've got a BMP 1 coming.. we're both also now broke & heading for divorce!
Hopefully there might be someone out there with a bit of knowledge on the LVTs, or knows some museums etc where we can get specs.
cheers to you all

Was a "Field Message Center" and "Radio Operator" (2543/31) with the H&S Company, Communications Platoon. My father Chief Benjamin Margot served in Cua Viet (in what was to become Camp Kistler) from August 67-68. He had the idea to used damaged AmTracs as makeshift hospitals for our wounded. If anyone served with my dad, I'd love to hear from you. (He passed in 1977).

I was with the 1st AmTrac BN H&S CO 67 till early 68 I then went To B CO 3 Tank BN where I was with the 3 PLT & 1st PLt at Khe Sahn till may 68 when I was evacuated on Ho Chi's Birthday the 19 of May. I sure remember the ammo dump going up at Cau Viet. And trolling for mines after the boat was blown over, also the armys convoy of armoured boats trying to clear the river.
